I tested them, running outside, in my Gortex running shoes, they are thick enough to keep my foot/toes warm and thin enough so as not to squeeze and hurt my toes. They worked so well that I bought a package of 5. I got rid of my other Merino blend socks which were too thick in the toe area. I highly recommend OUTWAY as the socks to wear running and for other ouddoor activities where comfort and warmth are required.
